Review

"As a starting point for ADHD sufferers and their loved ones searching for alternatives to Ritalin and other drugs, The All-in-One Guide to ADD and Hyperactivity is a valuable reference tool." - L. Hazelton, psychiatrist and writer, Quill & Quire, Canada's book trade newspaper, June 2001.

The term "holistic" is so frequently used these days that it runs the risk of becoming hackneyed. But it is not a cliché to describe this book as presenting a holistic approach to the subject of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Fifteen years ago, few people had ever heard of ADD/ADHD. Today, it is the most commonly diagnosed childhood behavioral condition in the United States. It is the subject of numerous studies and conferences, and increasing attention to it has set in motion an enormous industry that includes support groups, self-help books, therapists and learning specialists. It is hardly possible to be a regular reader of newspapers and magazines without being made aware of the ADD/ADHD phenomenon.

This aptly named All-in-One-Guide to offers parents, teachers and adults with ADD/Hyperactivity a comprehensive set of resources for managing it. This balanced guide discusses approaches as diverse as Chinese Medicine, acupressure, diet, herbs, homeopathy, and neurofeedback - even the subject of exercise is not neglected. The book is oriented toward empowering caretakers and decision-makers by informing them about all the options available to them in the treatment of ADD/ADHD, and it does this by presenting a very comprehensive array of approaches and treatments in chapters written by experts in their respective fields.
